Between the Sky and the Sea
This painting was inspired by a playful afternoon in the sea, where I experimented with a GoPro fitted with a dome lens. The dome lens allowed me to capture both above and below the water's surface in a single image, creating a unique perspective that immediately captured my imagination.
As I floated in the water, I spent time spinning the camera around and experimenting with different angles, excited to see how the reflections, ripples, and shifting light would appear through the lens. I was fascinated by the way the boundary between sea and sky became distorted, creating abstract shapes and patterns that felt almost dreamlike.
I chose to wear red because I loved the contrast it created against the deep blue sky and the vibrant teal sea. The bold colour draws the eye and brings energy to the composition, standing out against the cool tones of the surrounding water.
Through this painting, I wanted to capture the joy, freedom, and curiosity of that moment—celebrating the beauty of the sea
